The Space Between (The Book of Phoenix, #1)The Space Between by Kristie Cook
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Twin Flames: A deeper connection than soul mates. While soul mates are two souls made for each other, Twin Flames are two halves of a single soul that has been divided. The halves pull to each other until they are finally reunited. When they are once again bound to each other, they are stronger than the sum of their parts."

I just have to say that this book has one of the most utterly heart-wrenching and unforgettable scenes you're likely to ever read.

We get to know two couples... Leni and Jeric in the present day and Jacey and Micah back in the 80's. Their stories are connected in a way that you won't expect and there are some truly shocking developments to keep you turning the pages (or glued to your Kindle). Oh, and did I mention the mystery they're pressed to solve as a matter of life or death?

One of the things I loved most about the story is that Leni and Jeric get to know each other and form an emotional bond before *ahem* taking it to the next level. It's rare in romance novels these days and considering Jeric's previous man-whoring, it made the development of their relationship believable and more satisfying. My hat goes off to Kristie for that!
