Gypsy (The Cavy Files #1) by Trisha Leigh
Gypsy by Trisha Leigh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I adored Trisha's Last Year series so I was thrilled to read another amazing story by her.
This one focuses on Gypsy, a young girl with a genetic mutation allowing to her to see the age anyone she touches will die. She and her fellow 'Cavies' have been raised on a semi-hidden plantation in Charleston, NC for over 16 years but their discovery by a local conspiracy theorist results in a raid by the police and the loss of the only life they've ever known. The tight-knit group is suddenly plunged into the real world with no one to help them manage their deadly abilities ... and a secretive organization tracking their every move.
It's a thriller with heartbreak, danger, mystery, and a brave heroine you'll connect to from the first chapter. There's a touch of romance but we'll have to wait for the next book to see if it's going anywhere. Jude seems to be a good match for Gypsy/Norah but considering the glimpse of the future she saw for them, they won't be getting an easy HEA!
The story is a little slow at times but it's gripping until the last page and there's a shocking ending that will leave you desperate for more. So... if you enjoy YA lit, you won't want to miss out on this one.
