June Author Spotlight - Katy Regnery

This week, I've been honoured to have a virtual sit-down with Katy Regnery a few days out from the release of  'The Vixen and the Vet'. I was one of the lucky ones to be given an ARC so you can trust me when I tell you that it's one of the most heartfelt romances I've read in years. I can only describe Asher and Savannah's story as a modern day fairytale and I know you're going to love them!

KR: Thank you so much for inviting me to visit your blog today! I am so grateful for the opportunity to get the word out about my new book, "The Vixen and the Vet," which I wrote as a fundraiser to benefit Operation Mend.

R: Please tell us a little about yourself and how you started writing

KR: I am a 41-year-old mother of two who, up until two years ago, was an at-home mom. When both of my kids started school full time, I knew I needed something to occupy my time, so I took a writing course at the local town hall. That class helped me find my voice, and about nine months later, I had completed my first book, "By Proxy," which was contracted by Boroughs Publishing Group. "By Proxy" was followed by five additional books, all optioned by BPG, and I was off to the races!

R: Who or what has been your greatest influence?

KR: My life has had a lot of influences, but if I narrow down this question to the greatest influence on my writing specifically, it would be Lisa Kleypas. I read Lisa's books throughout the 80s and 90s and the weekend before I started "By Proxy" I read Lisa's Friday Harbor trilogy. I was so inspired by her stories, I wanted to write one of my own.

R: What experiences do you hope to create for your readers?

KR: I'm not writing to win a Pulitzer! (I have a very keen sense of self-awareness - LOL!) My books are pure escapism. They're entertainment. For a few hours you leave this world and visit one I've created. And hopefully while you're there your problems slip away and when you leave, you have a great love story that inspires you or moves you or makes you see life a little differently. I guess, in some small way, it's about hope too. I want people to feel hopeful about life, about finding someone, about realizing their own personal happiness. I think a good story can elevate your mood, make you wishful, make you believe...I mean, seriously. Look what reading Lisa's books did for me. They opened a whole new world.

I loved visiting with you, Rachel!

I hope your readers will pick up a copy of "The Vixen and the Vet" - it's completely guilt-free spending since 50% of my profits will benefit the wounded warriors in the US Armed Forces.

Thank you!
